Hey, I’m Laura!
I don’t run and I don’t enjoy running yet here I am having signed up to a marathon, in a different country and with just under 9 weeks to prepare (whilst simultaneously continuing my mission to give my parents more grey hairs!), after all, running is just a fast walk right? And I like walking… (as the training progresses I am realising I was wrong, very wrong!)
Nevertheless, since I have now committed to the marathon (dragging my friends for moral support/compressions if needed - I chose 4 nurses for a reason) I thought I would try to raise some dollar for an amazing charity which is very close to my heart.
The Grand Appeal is the Bristol Children's Hospital Charity, which aims to transform the lives of sick children from Bristol, the South West and beyond. Working in the Emergency Department with families who have utilised the charity’s resources, I have seen first hand the impact the charity has to support parents and children who are experiencing some of the most difficult experiences a family could face, having negative physical, emotional, mental, financial and logistical implications to name a few. Any sponsor (even as little as £1) will help go towards a great cause and help the Grand Appeal continue to help save the lives of sick children, provide pioneering medical equipment, keep families together and aid to relieve some of the stressors that present when a child experiences illness/trauma.
