Jas' outdoor swimming challenges for CHSW

Story

I am taking the plunge (quite literally) and entering multiple open water swim challenges this year (2024) to raise money for one of the charities that supported two of my closest friends, following the unexpected death of their little girl, Indie, in November.

Indie was a bright, cheeky, and happy 22-month-old who filled our hearts with pure joy and love. I was truly the proudest godparent. Her death has been felt greatly by those who knew her. Indie absolutely loved anything that involved water and so what better way to honour her memory, than with some swimming contests.

I do enjoy a spot of wild swimming, but I have certainly never taken on open water swimming to this degree, and I have never competed in open water swimming events before. I will be taking on long-distance swimming in lakes, seas and rivers, to show my gratitude to the charity discussed below. These challenges may be a bit out of my depth (excuse the pun) but equally, a way in which I can express my thanks to the amazing people who helped care for Indie and provide comfort to her loved ones during an incredibly traumatic time.

About the charity:
Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) is the charity I have chosen to swim for. I am in absolute awe of the care, dignity and love they provided Indie, her family and their close friends (myself included) during the most difficult time. The charity provides specialist palliative and hospice care for the whole family. This includes emergency support, end of life care and a bereavement service.

Thank you so much to all those donating and cheering me on, it is greatly appreciated. Please remember that even the smallest of donations can make a huge difference. I will update this page accordingly with my training and progression.
