A few weekends ago I took on an effing long walk with some mates. Our plan was to walk from Lulworth Cove in Dorset to Sidmouth seafront. We left Lulworth at 6am on a Saturday morning, slept outdoors (badly) on the cliffs at Hive Beach and arrived on Sidmouth seafront 39 hours later at 9pm on the Sunday evening. We covered a total of 103km and 2,945 metres of elevation over 27.5 hours of walking time. It was exhausting and extreme! A few friends and family members have asked if we did it for charity, and on the lead up to it, the thought of using it to fundraise did of course cross my mind. However I was so convinced I was not going to make it, that I didn’t feel confident enough to try and do it for charity.
Anyway, somehow, I made it! As I was walking up the last hill I thought a lot about how I should have used this opportunity to fundraise in honour of my friends beautiful 22 month old daughter, Indie, who passed away suddenly at the end of last year. One of two charities who supported them at this horrific time was Bristol Children’s Hospital Charity, The Grand Appeal. Indie's amazing Mum did her own fundraising last week in her honour, swimming 3k in the sea in just an hour and ten minutes! So I thought I would try and raise some funds in Indie’s honour if anyone would like to make a donation towards something that means a lot to me. Thanks for reading
